The Madinat Al Mataar story follows Dubai South. The Government of Dubai launched the city in 2006 as Dubai World Central, and a law issued by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Ruler of Dubai, renamed it Dubai South in August 2015. Dubai South oversees the master plan, while private developers build individual towers and home communities.
Dubai South is divided into 8 districts: Aviation, Logistics, Residential, Golf, Commercial, Humanitarian, the Exhibition District around the former Expo 2020 site, and the Business Park free zone. Its residential sub communities include Emaar South, Azizi Venice, Hayat, Waada, The Pulse, South Bay and South Living.
