About Expo Dubai Group

Expo Dubai Group is a government-backed master developer established in 2013 as a joint venture between the Dubai Government and Jumeirah Group. The company was originally founded to oversee the development and delivery of the Expo 2020 Dubai site, a 4.38 square kilometre world-class destination in Dubai South, and has since evolved into a full-scale urban developer responsible for transforming that legacy into Expo City Dubai, one of five strategic hubs within the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan. The company is led by Ahmed Al Khatib, Chief Development and Delivery Officer, who oversees the city’s ongoing master development, including its residential, commercial, cultural, and sustainability programmes.

Expo Dubai Group is the master developer behind Expo City Dubai, a smart, sustainable, mixed-use urban destination that repurposes over 90 per cent of the Expo 2020 built environment. Its growing residential portfolio spans two distinct districts, Expo Central and Expo Valley. It includes noteworthy projects such as Mangrove Residences, Sky Residences, Sidr Residences, Shamsa Townhouses, Yasmina Villas, and Maha Villas. Expo Valley holds the distinction of being the first development in the UAE to feature 60 per cent green areas within a community, with direct access to a nature reserve, lake, and wadi. In 2024, the group also announced a AED 1.75 billion joint venture with Aldar Properties for a six-building mixed-use development adjacent to the Dubai Exhibition Centre.

Expo City Dubai serves as a globally recognised hub for innovation, sustainability, and culture, having hosted COP28 in December 2023 and set to welcome GITEX Global by 2026. The city is home to the iconic Al Wasl Plaza, the Dubai Exhibition Centre, and landmark pavilions including Terra and Alif, with major corporations such as DP World, Nestlé, and Siemens establishing operations on site. The developer has received multiple prestigious accolades, including the Best Master Plan at the International Property Awards 2021, the Future Project Award at the World Architecture Festival 2022, and the UAE Outreach Project of the Year (Urban Development) at the GovMedia Conference and Awards 2024 for its COP28 pavilion programme.
