INTRODUCTION OF THE BUSINESS WORLD SENSATION
The Vision
Business Bay’s development and establishment is part of the vision of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashed Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Ruler of Dubai, in the early 2000s aiming to create a new “city” within the city of Dubai. The construction of Business Bay was inspired by other global financial districts like Manhattan and started in 2003. The infrastructural construction of the community was largely completed in 2008, however, it is still planning new projects to establish itself as a distinct global financial district. This business wonder has displayed Dubai’s vision to create a business district that would attract businesses to set up their companies and provide a luxurious and modernly refined lifestyle with world-class amenities seamlessly blending work, leisure, and entertainment with an enhanced livelihood.
Geographical Location and Infrastructure
The master plan of Business Bay was meticulously designed along the Dubai Water Canal spanning an area of 1470 acres accommodating a wide range of commercial, residential, and hospitality developments with a population of 24,410 as of 2022 which is 0.69% of Dubai’s total population as stated by the Dubai Data & Statistics Establishment – Yearly Population Estimates. The community was strategically built near Downtown Dubai to invite local and international businesses. Business Bay is an architectural masterpiece developed from a barren deserted land to one of the most globally renowned financial centers.
Architectural Evolution and Urban Planning
With the fancy and magnificent entrance of the world’s tallest skyscraper - Burj Khalifa in Downtown Dubai, there was a significant evolution and expansion of Business Bay as a global financial hub attracting international attention and exposure. Moreover, the introduction of the Dubai Water Canal in 2016 led to a drastic change in the picture of the community and reshaped a new landscape for Business Bay. This 3.2km long canal connects Business Bay to the Persian Gulf offering picturesque views of the skyline and state-of-art amenities such as hotels, retail shops, and attractions.
At present the district is adorned with over 240 buildings including impressive office towers, luxurious residential developments, and top-notch hotels, designed with pioneering and modern architecture, adding vibrancy and dynamism to the progress and development of this global business hub.
